Requiem of the Rose King follows Richard who is the third son of the Duke of York and living in a world where the Wars of the Roses is on the precipice of beginning.I really loved this volume of the manga. It's clear that Aya Kanno has done research on the Wars of the Roses and knows the history. I love how they are able to weave history with the story they are wanting to tell. It makes the story so interesting and I've been so invested when I have been reading this story. I love how it's a retelling of Henry VI and Richard III from Shakespeare as well. I also love the art in this manga volume. I think it is absolutely stunning and I find myself stopping to look at the artwork in this book jus so I can admire it. I do find sometimes I get characters mixed up but I absolutely loved reading this volume for that. I do love that in this we get to see the side of Richard III that we know he has deep down inside. That section on the battlefield was so unsettling and I loved how it was portrayed. Overall, I am loving this manga. I am so excited to read the next volume soon and I can see this being a manga series I fly through.
